Here are some great apps that will get you started in the right direction: Hipcamp (Free) — Glamping, private land.

REI Co-op National Parks Guide (Free) — National Parks only, no reservations.

AllStays ($)— Rest Stops, RV Parks & Some Campgrounds.

Campendium (Free) — RV, Tent campgrounds.

Boondocking (Free) — Submitted locations for boondockers.

Pro tip: Once you find a campground you want to stay at many times there is a youtube video showing pictures or videos of each campsite. Very helpful to find the one you need.
